How to Get a Security Licence in NSW

Being a security officer is an exciting profession  but something that is more important about this profession is the consistency and routine required for this profession. The duties of security guard include various tasks such as locking doors, watching the cctv footage, to monitor the alarms and also vigil the quiet areas. It’s the part of job of security guards to look after any suspicious activities taking place or any unusual sound heard in the buildings at night. A security guard has the authority to get citizens arrested and summoning the police in case any any unwanted incident takes place. In major situations they may also be required by the court to provide witness testimony. In order to become a security guard a person must possess Certificate II in Security Operations.


The Certificate II in Security Operations is basically a 102 hours course which includes training sessions and classroom studies. Validity of this Security Licence Course is for 5 years. After the expiry of this certification the candidate must apply for recertification. If the candidate wants to attain this certification he must successfully fulfil all the prerequisite eligibilities. The certification is about the basic security skills, knowledge and attributes. This certificate makes a candidate eligible to apply for a mobile patrol guard and also as a crowd controller at various places.


If the applicant has successfully attained the Certificate II the applicant further becomes eligible to apply for the Certificate III in Security Operations. This certification helps the applicant to attain armed security licence. It is not necessary but for the ones who wish to upgrade their skills in this profession and are already possessing the NSW 1AC security licence. Once the course is successfully completed a candidate becomes eligible to apply as a Transit Officer or a security team leader or else as a security manager.
